Wednesday Swing & Jazz Dance Classes – Belfast

Swing dancing in Belfast is upbeat, joyful, and rooted in the jazz music of the 1920s–1940s. Each Wednesday, join us for donation-based Swing & Jazz dance classes at Dance Addiction Studios, Parkgate Avenue, Belfast.

 

Our classes are beginner-friendly, no partner needed, and full of music, movement, and fun.

 

This Spring Term (Apr - Jun 2026)

7:30pm – Roaring 20s Jazz Dances
Step into the Jazz Age with dances that defined the era, including:

  • One-Step
  • Peabody
  • Texas Tommy
  • Charleston
  • Breakaway
  • Jazzy Waltz

 

8:30pm – Swinging 40s: Slow Bal
Dive into the golden age of Swing, learning the classic partner dance that took ballrooms by storm in the 1940s.

 

What is Swing Dance?  Swing dancing began in African American communities, especially in Harlem, when Big Bands took over pop culture. Known for its fast footwork, playful style, and high-energy moves, Swing quickly spread worldwide. Today, it continues to thrive with vibrant scenes from Charleston in the 1920s to Lindy Hop in the 1940s – and right here in Belfast.
