Our Social Space

  The Juke Yard

Community gardening & outdoor wellbeing

Saturday mornings

FREE to attend

Slow down. Get grounded. Grow something together.

The Juke Yard is our small but mighty urban garden — a shared outdoor space where people come together to reconnect with nature, each other, and themselves.

Created from a once-blank concrete yard, the space is being transformed into a welcoming, accessible green area through community effort, creativity, and care.

What happens at the juke yard?

Sessions are relaxed, informal, and shaped by the people who attend. Activities may include:

  • planting and growing
  • light gardening and tidying
  • building and creative projects
  • learning simple, practical skills
  • chatting, pausing, or simply enjoying the fresh air

You can take part as much or as little as feels right for you — whether that’s active gardening, lighter tasks, or just spending time outdoors.

There’s no rush, no pressure, and no expectation to “do it right”.

do i need expereience?

No experience? No problem.

Everything you need is provided, and there’s no pressure to know what you’re doing. Curiosity counts more than expertise, and conversation is just as welcome as quiet focus.

who is it for?

The Juke Yard is open to adults who want to:

  • spend time outdoors
  • meet others in a low-pressure way
  • be part of creating something shared
  • enjoy the wellbeing benefits of nature and community

It’s about growing more than plants — it’s about connection, confidence, and shared ownership of a space that belongs to the community.

What to wear?

Dress for the weather and wear clothes you’re happy to get a bit mucky. Comfortable shoes are recommended. Gloves and basic tools are provided.

How to take part
Sessions are free and relaxed — you can drop in and take part at your own pace.
