Our Social Space

Saturday Nights In – Our Speakeasy

Volunteer-Led Cultural & Social Evenings

Saturday Nights In – Our Speakeasy is a monthly, volunteer-led cultural programme supported by Community Foundation Northern Ireland (Micro Community Fund).

Held on the third Saturday of each month at our East Belfast community venue, the programme activates the space as an accessible cultural hub — creating relaxed, low-pressure opportunities for adults to gather, connect and participate.

Delivery Model

• Monthly themed evenings including social dance, live music, open-mic sessions, quizzes, board games and community cinema
• Volunteer-led planning and delivery
• Free and donation-based access
• Open to adults of all backgrounds

By combining cultural participation with informal social space, Saturday Nights In strengthens peer networks, reduces isolation and nurtures a sense of belonging.

Outcomes

The programme provides:

  • Regular opportunities for in-person social connection
  • A safe, welcoming environment for adults seeking community
  • Ongoing activation of our community venue outside class hours

Through volunteer leadership and shared ownership, Saturday Nights In contributes to both individual wellbeing and the sustainability of a local cultural space.
